Achievements are specific objectives whose completion is tracked on platforms such as Steam or PSN. Achievements represent progress, but themselves have no in-game effect.

Passage Achievements

Main article: Passages

Each Passage awards an achievement when completed for the first time.

The Survivor

"This land has become your home"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Survivor as any Slugcat.

The Monk

"Path of the vegetarian"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Monk as any Slugcat.

The Hunter

"Path of the carnivore"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Hunter as any Slugcat.

The Saint

"Path of the pacifist"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Saint as any Slugcat.

The Outlaw

"Path of aggression"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Outlaw as any Slugcat.

The Chieftain

"Embraced by a new tribe"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Chieftain as any Slugcat.

The Wanderer

"Your travels have taken you far"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Wanderer as any Slugcat.

The Dragon Slayer

"Predator has become prey"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Dragon Slayer as any Slugcat.

The Friend

"One need not travel alone"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Friend as any Slugcat.

The Scholar

"History lessons"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Scholar as any Slugcat.

The Martyr

"Path of self-sacrifice"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Martyr as any Slugcat.

The Nomad

"Great strides have been made"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Nomad as any Slugcat.

The Pilgrim

"Listened to the conflation of echoes"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Pilgrim as any Slugcat.

The Mother

"Followed your parental instincts"

This achievement is awarded for completing The Mother as any Slugcat.

Echo Achievements

Echo achievements are awarded upon finding the corresponding Echo hidden somewhere in the world. There are six Echoes to be encountered in the world, and meeting each one grants an achievement corresponding to its name. Note that for most of the Echoes, you must visit their location twice and be at or near the current maximum karma on the return visit in order to see them. If the player does not already have the highest maximum karma level, finding an Echo increases their maximum karma. They are also transported back to their previous Shelter on a new cycle with maximum karma. A playlist showing the location of Echoes can be found here.

Four Needles under Plentiful Leaves

Four Needles under Plentiful Leaves is located in Shaded Citadel, below the near end of the eastern bridge close to Shoreline.

Six Grains of Gravel, Mountains Abound

"You encountered the echo of Six Grains of Gravel, Mountains Abound"

Six Grains of Gravel, Mountains Abound is located in The Exterior, at the top of The Wall

• Six Grains of Gravel, Mountains Abound can be visited the first time that the player reaches its location.

Nineteen Spades, Endless Reflections

"You encountered the echo of Nineteen Spades, Endless Reflections"

Nineteen Spades, Endless Reflections is located at the top middle area of Chimney Canopy, in between the Karma Gates to Sky Islands on the left and The Wall on the right.

Droplets upon Five Large Droplets

"You encountered the echo of Droplets upon Five Large Droplets"

Droplets upon Five Large Droplets is located in the lower left area of Sky Islands, near the gate to Farm Arrays.

A Bell, Eighteen Amber Beads

"You encountered the echo of A Bell, Eighteen Amber Beads"

A Bell, Eighteen Amber Beads is located in the lower right area of Farm Arrays, near the gate to Outskirts.

Two Sprouts, Twelve Brackets

"You encountered the echo of Two Sprouts, Twelve Brackets"

Two Sprouts, Twelve Brackets is located in Subterranean, on the right side of the ravine next to the gate to Farm Arrays.

• Two Sprouts, Twelve Brackets can be visited the first time that the player reaches its location. This is probably due to the fact that Subterranean's ravine would be unnecessarily difficult to climb back up without extensive preparation.

Story Achievements

Story achievements are awarded for reaching specific points in the game's story or performing certain tasks related to the game's plot. They do not inherently reward the player with anything in-game (although some, such as "Stolen Enlightenment" or "The Journey", are tied to a point where the player can receive significant rewards) but instead simply track the player's progress through the game.

A New Friend

"You are not the only lost soul in this world.."

This achievement is rewarded after the player meets Looks to the Moon, and is earned upon hibernating. The player sees a vision of Looks to the Moon in their sleep, and the achievement is given. However, if the player steals a Neuron Fly, they do not receive this achievement, and instead earn "Stolen Enlightenment".

Stolen Enlightenment

"A significant gain, but at what cost?"

This achievement is rewarded if the player steals at least one of Looks to the Moon's Neuron Flies and then hibernates. The player sees a vision of Looks to the Moon injured in their sleep, and the achievement is given. Notably, the achievement can only be earned if the player steals a Neuron Fly upon their first visit to Looks to the Moon. Stealing a Neuron Fly on subsequent visits causes the vision to be seen upon next hibernation, but does not grant the achievement. If the player does not eat the Neuron Fly they have taken, and hibernates with full food, they still get the achievement and are able to return the Neuron Fly to Looks to the Moon the following cycle.

SPOILER WARNING: 5P

The Journey

"Go west, past the Farm Arrays and then down deep into the earth..."

This achievement is rewarded after the player meets Five Pebbles in the center of his complex. Five Pebbles explains where you should go next, and then send you on your way. After the player hibernates, they see a vision and earn the achievement.

Pilgrimage

"The highest enlightenment, achieved by the hardest path. A feat even guardians must respect"

This achievement requires the player to raise their maximum karma to the highest level without visiting Five Pebbles. To do this, the player must find four out of the six Echoes, each of which raise the player's maximum karma by a small amount. All four Echoes must be found before visiting Five Pebbles. The achievement is earned as soon as the last Echo raises the player's karma level to the maximum of 10. While playing as The Hunter, Five Pebbles may contribute to the achievement, as long as he does not provide the final karma increase.

Ascension

This achievement is awarded for reaching the end of the game, deep within The Depths. The achievement is given when the ending credits start scrolling.

A Helping Hand

"A final charitable act"

This achievement is given for delivering the green neuron fly to Looks to the Moon or Five Pebbles as Hunter.

Within Time

"You have found another way out"

This achievement is given for ascending as Hunter.

Migration

"You return from scouting a new land"

This achievement is awarded for reaching Journey's End in Outer Expanse as Gourmand.

Closure

"The consequences of your journey have caught up with you"

This achievement is awarded for either defeating the Chieftain Scavenger at the end of Metropolis or attempting to ascend as Artificer.

An Old Friend

"Fates have been flipped"

This achievement is awarded for helping Five Pebbles by taking his Rarefaction Cell and using it to help Looks to the Moon.

Messenger

"You have delivered your most important message"

This achievement is awarded by delivering Looks to the Moon's overwritten pearl atop the Communications Array.

The Cycle

"Everything comes full circle"

This achievement is awarded by "ascending" through the tops of Rubicon.

Downpour-Exclusive Content
This section contains content exclusive to the Downpour DLC. This content is not available in the base game.

Champion

"You have completed every challenge laid before you"

This achievement is awarded for completing every Challenge in Arena.

Expedition Leader

"You have completed every expedition laid before you"

This achievement is awarded for completing every quest in Expedition.
