Bubble Fruit, known in-code as Water Nuts, are small objects with a blue center surrounded by a dark outer shell, usually found growing out of the ground around bodies of water. They can be thrown to stun creatures when dry, and they expand and become edible when submerged in water.

Function

Bubble Fruit is unique in that it has two distinct states with different functions: dry and swollen.

Dry

Bubble Fruit initially spawns in its dry state.

Dry Bubble Fruit is functionally identical to Rocks. It can be used to stun creatures, flip Lizards over, distract sound-sensitive predators, kill Batflies, and so on.

Swollen

When submerged in water for a few seconds, dry Bubble Fruit pops, expanding into a clear, gelatinous bubble. ✔️DLC Ribeiro has the ability to pop Bubble Fruit simply by holding it for a few seconds.

Swollen Bubble Fruit is edible, filling up 1 food pip 🌕 (¼ of a food pip 🌘 as Caçador or ✔️DLC Artífice) when eaten.

Akin to most other foods, swollen Bubble Fruit is part of the foreground, meaning that it reflects thrown Spears and Rocks and can be pushed around.

Trivia

  • Holding Bubble Fruit as it swells up causes it to fall out of Slugcat's hand.
  • Swollen Bubble Fruit is squishy, changing its shape when pushed into surfaces or weighed down by other objects.
  • In ✔️DLC Downpour, dry Bubble Fruit pops in acid.
    • This includes the orange acid seen in Inv's campaign.
