Rain World: Downpour is a paid DLC released for PC on Jan 19th 2023, and later for Playstation 4+5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox on July 11th 2023[1]. Initially developed as the More Slugcats Mod by the community, it was brought on as official content when Akupara Games became Videocult's publisher. Downpour also incorporates several other community-made projects, including Jolly Co-op, Expedition, and Rain World: Remix, a free update to the vanilla game adding accessibility and quality of life options.

Overall, the DLC aspect of Downpour consists of a prepackaged bundle of mods that are enabled and configurable via the Remix menu;

  • Expedition
  • Jolly Co-op
  • More Slugcats Expansion

Most of the information here refers to content added by the More Slugcats Expansion, or MSC for short, while the content of Expedition and Jolly Co-Op is covered on their own respective pages.

Collection Menu

The Collection Menu is an additional tab on the main menu that records and allows the player to view the contents of Colored Pearls that have been transcribed within Story or Expedition Mode, in addition to the collectible Broadcasts within Spearmaster's campaign. The interface consists of a vertical 5 by 13 grid of buttons on the left side, for a total of 65 entries (30 unique Pearls and 35 Broadcasts). Each entry is initially undiscovered and blanked out with a question mark, and once discovered, becomes interactable buttons labeled with a colored icon of the respective Pearl / Broadcast. On the right is a readout of the currently selected entry, which displays "[ Collection Empty ]" when none are selected.

When a discovered Pearl entry is selected, the available transcriptions of that entry are displayed as one or more buttons at the top right corner of the entry readout. Undiscovered transcriptions are labeled with a question mark, and are replaced by an icon of the associated Iterator when discovered. These buttons display the type of transcription when highlighted, and switch the readout to display the corresponding transcription when selected.

There are 4 unique types of transcriptions, each with a different icon/color, and a corresponding colored question mark when undiscovered;

  • Looks to the Moon's Transcription
    • Undiscovered Transcription
  • Looks to the Moon's Transcription (Pre-Collapse)
    • Undiscovered Transcription
  • Looks to the Moon's Transcription (Future)
    • Undiscovered Transcription
  • Five Pebble's Transcription[sic]
    • Undiscovered Transcription
