Fire Eggs are edible objects exclusive to Downpour. They are obtained by hitting Insectes explosifs with a Lance or other weapon, causing them to drop 6 Fire Eggs. They function both as food and as a powerful timed explosive.
Function
Food
Fire Eggs are edible, filling 1 food pip Chasseur or Artificier).
when eaten (¼ of a food pip asExplosion
Fire Eggs can be thrown with the force and speed of other non-weapon objects. They stick to any surface or creature that they land on. They shake and grow in size for around 4 seconds and then explode, killing or stunning nearby creatures. Artificier is not immune to this blast.
The explosion produced by a Fire Egg is deadly to most creatures, dealing ~57 damage, and is capable of instantly killing Vautours de Miró and Pères Pholcidae. It also has a larger blast radius than other explosives. Fire Eggs are unable to latch onto trailing body parts such as tentacles.
A Fire Egg's explosion can detonate other explosives, excluding other Fire Eggs.
Crafting
While they can only be obtained naturally by Saint, they can also be crafted by Gourmand by combining a Grenade with a Fleur de Karma. The Fire Egg can then be combined with another Karma Flower or Grenade to make a Bombe à Singularité.
Trivia
- Objects stored in Saint's stomach remain after resetting, allowing the player to bring Fire Eggs out of Rubicon.
- According to Looks to the Moon, Fire Eggs are filled with Void Fluid.
- They constantly regenerate to counter the Void Fluid's dissolving effect, but the creation-destruction balance is fragile and destabilizes when thrown.
- Despite their similarities to Œufs d'Insecte Ovoïde, they contribute to the Le Moine passage rather than Le Chasseur.
- Fire Eggs are naturally pink, red, or orange when taken from a Firebug, but Fire Eggs crafted by Gourmand may come in a variety of colors that Firebugs cannot normally spawn with, such as blue, purple, or green.
