Garbage Wastes is an early game region covered in piles of junk and pools of green water filled with Leeches. It is the third region visited as
Monk and
Survivor when following your
guide, while also being
Artificer's starting region. This place is home to a large
Scavenger population.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Garbage Wastes is a wide region divided into three main horizontal sections. The central section leads from Industrial Complex in the west to
Shoreline in the east. Passing a
Scavenger Toll is required to reach the Shoreline gate. The upmost section leads to a unique Scavenger Stronghold containing two arena unlocks and a large number of Scavengers, guarded by a second Scavenger Toll. Both of these sections are above ground, exposing the player to
Vultures. The lower section of the map is underground and infested with
Brother Long Legs at the eastern end.
Garbage Wastes has the largest Scavenger population of any region, as well as a
Scavenger Merchant. The high number of
Garbage Worms found in the region makes
Spear and
Explosive Spear theft common.

Points of interest[edit | edit source]
- Two
Scavenger Tolls, one before the Shoreline gate and one before the Scavenger stronghold.
- Two
Scavenger Storerooms, one in the stronghold behind a Toll and the other in a hidden room near it.
Scavenger Merchant
Lime Pearl* (Pre Moon collapse exclusive)
Variants[edit | edit source]
Present[edit | edit source]
Available to Monk, Survivor, Hunter, Gourmand, Rivulet, and Saint. Apart from various changes in appearance, creature spawns, and placement of The Rot throughout the timeline, Garbage Wastes Remains relatively consistent with a large Scavenger and pearl presence interspersed within the entangled garbage heaps and bodies of water.
Past[edit | edit source]
Available to Artificer and Spearmaster.
The Downpour DLC adds a variant of Garbage Wastes, Garbage Wastes (Past), featuring a much more industrial like architecture with numerous pools of acid lining almost every remaining structure.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In GW_A14, (the
Red Lizard unlock room), the water level does not actually cover the entire room, making it possible to sit inside the pipe connection at the top without drowning.
- The two collectibles on the ceiling of the lower area can be collected by using Spears as poles, or grabbing a Squidcada from GW_E01.
- Garbage Wastes and Shaded Citadel are the only vanilla regions to recieve a connection to another vanilla region in Downpour
- In pre collapse Garbage Wastes,
Vultures can only enter the rooms near the Scavenger stronghold (except the stronghold itself), with a preference towards the 2 rooms before the toll, as every other area is set as 'forbidden' to them.
