Infant Centipedes, also known as Small Centipedes, are juvenile Centipedes that are capable of delivering a non-lethal electric shock in self-defense. They are typically found in groups, occasionally accompanied by an Adult Centipede.
Infant Centipedes only have 5 segments compared to the larger Adult Centipedes. Other than that, they have the same appearance.
Abilities & Behavior
When a living Infant Centipede is picked up by a creature, they emit an electrical whine. If held for too long, they shock the creature, stunning them and causing them to drop the Infant Centipede.
Infant Centipedes can be picked up and eaten alive to restore 2 food pips . Alternatively, they can be killed with 1 Spear hit (unless starving or Monk, then 2 hits) or by partially eating them.

Infant Centiwing
Exclusive to Downpour is a green Infant Centipede variant that appears in areas where Centiwings are found. They have no difference in behavior from regular Infant Centipedes. They use the same hues as Centiwings but with a higher level of saturation. In the game's files, this palette is applied to Infant Centipedes with the {AlternateForm} tag.
Other creatures' relationships with Adult Centipedes also apply to Infant Centipedes, which leads to interactions such as Miros Birds eating Infant Centipedes despite having an assigned Ignores relationship with them.
Stabbing an Infant Centipede does not reset progress for The Saint passage.
Because holding an Infant Centipede does not hinder Slugcat's movement, they can be used as 'pincushions' to hold a number of spears, allowing any Slugcat to carry as many spears as they like.
Only Infant Centipedes can shock a Lizard that is holding them. This is particularly noticeable with Blue Lizards, which often fail to bring Infant Centipedes to their dens, but easily incapacitate and kill Overgrown Centipedes.
