Weak of body but strong in spirit. In tune with the mysteries of the world and empathetic to it's creatures, your journey will be a significantly more peaceful one.

The Monk serves as Rain World's easy mode, and begins the game in Outskirts Safari Icon.png Outskirts after the opening cutscene, which implies that they dove after their sibling, the Survivor head.png Survivor.

3 food pips are required to hibernate, while up to 2 may be stored for the next cycle.

Opening[edit | edit source]

The Monk's opening cutscene is near identical to that of the Survivor, with the ending diverging slightly to show the Monk diving after the Survivor when the latter slips and falls.

General Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Predators are less common and slightly less aggressive.
  • Karma gates have their Karma level requirements removed permanently after the first use.
  • The yellow Overseer icon.png Overseer can light up dark areas within the Shaded Citadel Safari Icon.png Shaded Citadel.
  • Creatures are much quicker to befriend or forgive.
  • Thrown Spear icon.png Spears do less damage and have a lower velocity.
    • This reduced velocity prevents Monk from performing slide spears.
  • Breath capacity and weight are both lowered.
  • RWPearl.png Colored Pearls are replaced with dark gray "blank" Pearls.
  • Monk always leaves a Karma Flower icon.png Karma Flower on death.
  • Monk is less visible to creatures, is quieter and gets a larger stealth bonus when crouching.

[*] lungsFac determines how much air is drained per frame. This means lower values grant a larger lung capacity. When the Remix option 'Monk Extended Breath' is enabled, their lung capacity increases to 0.8 (1.25x standard).

[†] Throwing skill affects velocity and trajectory.

[‡] Damage value is randomized on throw between 0.6 and 0.9, with an average of 0.66.
