Pipeyard is a region added in Downpour which consists of various tunnels, pipes, and flooded caves, with open spaces near the surface. It serves as a connection to several regions.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Pipeyard is an amalgam of various open rooms, gaping holes, decrepit drills and linear plots of terrain. The region is filled with various complex arrays of piping, paired with geometry somewhat akin to Drainage System. The lower sections of Pipeyard are dim and partially submerged, with these areas harbouring infestations of
Monster Kelp and packs of
Black Lizards.
Pipeyard serves as an alternative to Garbage Wastes, with additional region connections. It generally contains introductory enemies, which makes it easier to learn mechanics but many of its paths are only one-way, and the region is infested with
Centipedes. This makes it one of the few locations to have
Adult Centipedes as
Survivor and
Monk.

Subregions[edit | edit source]
Sump Tunnel[edit | edit source]
A subregion that can be described as a combination of Shoreline and
Drainage System, with the color palette of the former and the terrain shapes of the latter. It is connected to the rest of the region by dark pipes and flooded cave systems. It appears to be almost completely empty in terms of creatures, with only a few
Snails and
Jetfish.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Pipeyard has the acronym "VS" in game files, which stands for Voided Subterranean.
- Veiled Northstar, the song that plays in the Sump Tunnel subregion, is a remix of an unused song found in the AGJ album, which went by the name SubSubSub.
