Proto Rot, also known as Immobile Rot Cysts, Rot Clusters, or Proto Long Legs, are immobile clusters of 
Rot growing on surfaces in certain rooms. They stick to creatures with their cysts and tentacles, then pull their prey in and consume them.
Abilities & Behavior
Proto Rot is a stationary threat that grows on surfaces and cannot be killed. Creatures that touch its cysts or short tentacles are pulled in and consumed. Once Proto Rot has latched on, it is nearly inescapable.
There may be long tentacles that connect two patches of Proto Rot; these are safe to touch, and Slugcat may grab onto and climb on them.
Variants & Attributes
Proto Rot appears in two variants, Proto Daddy Long Legs and Proto Brother Long Legs, though the differences between the two are only cosmetic.
Proto Daddy Long Legs
Proto Daddy Long Legs is a blue variant of Proto Rot that can be found in 
Five Pebbles's Unfortunate Development subregion.
It can also be found in 
Garbage Wastes as 
Artificer and 
Spearmaster, in 
Shaded Citadel, 
The Exterior, and 
The Rot as 
Rivulet, and in 
Rubicon as 
Saint.
Like mobile 
Daddy Long Legs, Proto Daddy Long Legs has the ability to hear and emits circular particles in response to sound; however, this is largely cosmetic, as Proto Rot is incapable of moving.
Stationary Daddy Long Legs can be found in certain clusters of Proto Daddy Long Legs. These Daddy Long Legs do not have dens and do not shelter when the rain arrives. Despite this, they are still considered a creature by the game and can thus be killed like any other Daddy Long Legs.

Proto Brother Long Legs
Proto Brother Long Legs is a brown variant of Proto Rot that appears in Garbage Wastes when playing as 
Hunter.
In the Hunter campaign, Garbage Wastes suffers from a slightly larger Rot infestation. This is because the Hunter campaign takes place at a time closer to when 
Five Pebbles dumped infected material into Garbage Wastes during his first fit of corruption.
