Shoreline is an early mid-game region filled with water. It is the fourth region visited when playing as Monk head.png Monk or Survivor head.png Survivor when following the Overseer icon.png guide.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Shoreline consists mostly of open water, islands connected by tunnels and systems of waterlogged pipes. Aquatic and aerial predators including Salamander icon.png Salamanders, Vulture icon.png Vultures and Leviathan icon.png Leviathans make swimming in open water risky. While Jetfish icon.png Jetfish can be aggressive or impede the player's progress, they can also be grabbed and ridden to quickly cross large stretches of water. When following the Overseer icon.png Overseer, the player is guided towards the far east of the region.

Looks to the Moon[edit | edit source]

Looks to the Moon is a small portion of a dilapidated computer complex, and the destination to which the Overseer icon.png Overseer initially guides the player. Looks to the Moon (character) icon.png Looks to the Moon can be met here. Entering this area isn't necessary for game completion, but is vital to the lore of Rain World and marks the first milestone in the game, after which the Overseer will begin giving directions to a new location.

    The Precipice[edit | edit source]

The Precipice is an isolated subregion connected to The Exterior Safari Icon.png The Exterior. It was once a bridge that connected Five Pebbles and Looks to the Moon, as well as the rest of the Waterfront Facility Safari Icon.png Waterfront Facility via a climbable shaft by the time of the Spearmaster head.png Spearmaster, but by the time of the Artificer head.png Artificer, the section between said shaft and Looks to the Moon collapsed, before collapsing even further leaving it disconnected from the rest of the Shoreline for all other slugcats and only accessible through the Karma Gate at the far east of the Underhang.

    Luna[edit | edit source]

The upper rooms of Looks to the Moon Safari Icon.png Luna and the connection with Submerged Superstructure Safari Icon.png Bitter Aerie survived the superstructure's collapse, but it can only be reached through a vertical pipe above Moon's chamber. Only the Rivulet head.png Rivulet and the Saint head.png Saint can enter through there, but the other Slugcats can also reach Luna through the Bitter Aerie.

    Trivia[edit | edit source]

    • Rainbows have a chance to appear in certain rooms at the start of a cycle.
    • It is possible to bring Scavenger icon.png Scavengers into Shoreline by loading the region while in a Karma Gate room with them. They can then be found in LttM.
    • It is also possible for Leviathan icon.png Leviathans to eat Vulture icon.png Vultures.
