Shoreline is an early mid-game region mainly consisting of vast oceans interspersed with the occasional small island, as well as a network of underground tunnels partially filled with water.

Shoreline is the fourth region visited when playing as Monaco or Sopravissuto when following the Supervisore Giallo.

Shoreline consists mostly of open water, islands connected by tunnels, and systems of waterlogged pipes. Aquatic and aerial predators including Salamanders, Leviathans, and Avvoltoi make swimming in open water risky. While Jetfish can be aggressive or impede Slugcat's progress, they can also be grabbed and ridden to quickly cross large stretches of water, or navigate underwater tunnels that would otherwise cause Slugcat to drown. When following the Supervisore Giallo, Slugcat is guided towards the far east of the region.

    Looks to the Moon

    SPOILER WARNING: LttM
This section contains major plot details from the "LttM" region and beyond. If you have not progressed past this region, then read no further!

Looks to the Moon is a small portion of a dilapidated computer complex, and the destination to which the Supervisore initially guides the player. Guarda la Luna can be met here. Entering this area isn't necessary for game completion, but is vital to the lore of Rain World and marks the first milestone in the game, after which the Overseer begins giving directions to a new location.

    SPOILER WARNING: Downpour
This section contains details concerning the Downpour DLC. If you have not yet completed the DLC, then read no further!

In ✔️DLC Downpour, the upper rooms of Looks to the Moon Luna (including the connection with Superstruttura Sommersa Bitter Aerie) that survived the superstructure's collapse are accessible for every Slugcat except Lanciere and Artificere. These rooms can be accessed through a hidden vertical pipe above Moon's chamber, but this is impractical for Slugcats lacking the necessary aids or mobility. Otherwise, they must be accessed through the Bitter Aerie subregion of the Submerged Superstructure.

    Spoilers end here.

    The Precipice

    SPOILER WARNING: Downpour
This section contains details concerning the Downpour DLC. If you have not yet completed the DLC, then read no further!

The Precipice is an isolated subregion connected to L'Esterno. During the time of Lanciere, it was a bridge that connected Five Pebbles and Looks to the Moon, as well as the rest of Struttura Costiera via a climbable shaft. By the time of Artificere, the section between said shaft and Looks to the Moon collapsed. It then collapsed even further, leaving it disconnected from the rest of Shoreline for all other Slugcats, and only accessible through the Karma Gate at the far east of the Underhang. The region is not available to Santo.

    Variants

    SPOILER WARNING: Downpour
This section contains details concerning the Downpour DLC. If you have not yet completed the DLC, then read no further!

In Lanciere's and Artificere's campaign, Shoreline is replaced by Struttura Costiera, a distinct region separate from Shoreline.

    Saint

Shoreline has been renamed to Frigid Coast in Santo's campaign due to significant alterations caused by Cinque Sassolini' collapse and climate changes. The environment has transformed into a cold and static aquatic ecosystem reminiscent of the Superstruttura Sommersa. The Precipice no longer exists. The route that once connected to Cittadella Oscura has been crushed and replaced by the central L'Esterno Underhang, and consequently now directly connects to Costruzione Silenziosa. One of the rooms leading to Sotterraneo (SL_C06) also has a specific barrier removed, making traversal easier.

    Spoilers end here.

    Trivia

    • Rainbows have a chance to appear in certain rooms at the start of a cycle.
    • It is possible to bring Spazzini into Shoreline by loading the region while in a Karma Gate room with them. They can then be found in LttM.
    • Leviathans may eat Avvoltoi due to both existing in Shoreline.
    • ✔️DLCShoreline and its past iteration, Waterfront Facility, have the most connections to other regions in the game at 7. However, Shoreline's gate to Bitter Aerie is one-way and cannot be accessed from Shoreline.
